Stay Motivated - Tips to help keep you motivated during your fitness journey!

Pick Your Program: (click HERE for video)
You need to pick a program that you have interest in, one you will have success with. For example: if you're new to working out, or haven't worked out in years, P90X probably isn't the program for you, yet (you'll get there soon enough). P90X are for those people who have already met a specific level in their fitness journey. So, for a person new to working out, P90X will be too difficult. Picking a program that is interesting to YOU will help you stay motivated. Do you like dancing, kickboxing or are you more into Mind/Body workouts? I would never recommend a Mind/Body program like Yoga Booty Ballet to someone who craves a lot of movement, fast pace moves or likes to dance Hip Hop. That person would be more suited for Hip Hop Abs or Turbo Jam. So, find the program that fits your style, and you'll stay motivated.

Schedule your Workouts:
When you schedule time in your day for your workout, it'll be easier for you to stay on mark. If you're a person who creates a daily to-do list (which I highly recommend to EVERYONE), the satisfaction you'll receive from being able to mark off another task on your list will be a reward in itself. If you're someone who doesn't use a day planner on a regular basis, scheduling your hour of exercise will help you better schedule your day AND will help you get your workout in! Let your family know that this is YOUR time - that if they need you for anything, they can see you after your workout, OR can workout with you. This is a great way to get your spouse or loved on included in your new journey as well!

Early-Bird or Late-Owl:
Do you know what time in the day works best for YOU to workout? Are you someone who enjoys getting up early in the morning to get your workout in? Which, by the way, is an EXCELLENT way to jump start your metabolism for the day - studies show that those who work out first thing in the morning burn more calories during the day than those who workout at the end of the day. Or, are you someone who likes to workout at the end of the day? My personal style - no matter how much I want to be an Early-Bird, I'm a Late-Owl. I just CANNOT get myself up in the morning to workout. I've tired on many occasions and it just doesn't happen. :) So, knowing what time of the day your body will have peak performance will help you maintain your schedule, and will keep you motivated!

Dress to Impress, even while working out:
You know the feeling you get when you've got a hot new outfit, just got your hair done, and have rocking shoes that complete the ensemble? You're unstoppable, right? Why not roll that over to your workout? When you invest in good quality, high fashion, workout clothes and awesome workout shoes, you're bound to be excited to get your workout on! Need help finding some killer workout clothes? My favorite, and what I wear to teach aerobics, is Turbo Wear (http://www.turbowear.com/). Created by Chalene Johnson, the creator of Turbo Jam, Chalene knows FIRST HAND how to design functional and flashy workout clothes. My favorites are the Waffle Pants! These pants have a flattering fit, are made of a material that literally dries as soon as it gets wet, are cost effective and are sooooo cute! Paired with some Turbo Tube Socks and you're all set for a rocking good time!

Spousal Support:
Support from your spouse, or loved one, is sooooo important that I probably should've listed it first. If you don't have the support from your spouse or loved one, how are you going to stay motivated to continue on your fitness journey? Why bother, right? So, get your spouse or loved one on board. Tell them how important their support and unconditional love mean to your during your journey (cause, it really is a journey). Ask them to workout with you! Get them interested in healthy eating, get them interested in fitness and soon enough you'll BOTH be celebrating your new bodies!

Beachbody Community:
Have you checked out the Beachbody Message Boards yet? These boards are awesome! They're so user friendly and broken down into different topics that searching for the answers you need is totally easy! Looking for a group who are staring Insanity on Monday? They're there! Looking for success stories for Turbo Jam? They're there! Have questions on any of the nutritional supplements like Shakeology? They're there! The boards are filled with people who are on the journey, just like you! Moms, people in the military, the over 60 crowd...there is a group for everyone!

But, the best motivation for you to keep Pushing Play (putting your Beachbody workout DVD in and working out) is the results you're going to achieve. I know, first hand, when your clothes start fitting looser and eventually falling off, when you start getting comments from co-workers that you're looking younger/fresher/happier/etc...THAT is the ultimate motivation! Knowing you're doing something so healthy for your body, knowing that you are reversing damage you may have done to your body, knowing that you're setting a healthy example for your children - THAT is the ultimate motivation.
